#StopAsianHate

On Tuesday, March 16, 6 Asian women in Atlanta were murdered at their workplaces, which were Asian-owned spas. The murderer was a white man.

Let's make sure we call this what it was. This was a hate crime.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From March 2020 to February 2021, there have been 3,795 reported anti-Asian hate incidents. These are only those that have been reported - it does not account for the incidents that went unreported out of fear or embarrassment, the passing comments in public places, and the anti-Asian rhetoric and stereotypes that have been perpetuated by the media (and by the former president).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over 64% of the incidents that have been reported were reported by women. During a month where we are supposed to be celebrating women, Asian women are instead living in fear, rage, and mourning, and are experiencing harassment and violence at record levels.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Below are some resources that I have come across to learn more about anti-Asian violence and what I can do, and am sharing to give examples of ways that I am working on taking action as a person with white privilege during a time that is incredibly trying for POC - while continuing to listen and learn - in the hopes that some of the resources will be useful to you as well.
